Progress Report on Russell Accords

Please find at this link a WRC progress report on the implementation of the 2009 accords between Russell Athletic/Fruit of the Loom and the CGT union federation in Honduras, and the separate remediation agreement between Russell and the WRC. I am pleased to report that Russell is fulfilling its commitments under the agreement and that good progress has been achieved in the implementation of its key provisions.

The accord and the fulfillment of its terms have profound significance for labor rights efforts in the region: Russell and its labor union partner have established a working partnership that sets a new standard for labor-management relations in Honduras’ apparel industry. This is an extraordinary accomplishment for the company, for the union, and for the students and universities in the United States that helped to bring about a fundamental change in Russell’s approach to freedom of association.

We will continue to monitor the implementation of this agreement and we will report on developments as warranted.
