Key Buyers: Aramark Uniform Services, Edwards Garment
Last Updated: 2024
Case Summary
The Horizon Manufacturing garment factory, located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, shut down operations in April 2022. At the time of the closure, the factory owner failed to pay the factory’s 532 employees more than $300,000 they were owed in terminal benefits as required by Haitian law.
The violations by factory owners were remedied when factory buyers Edwards Garment and Aramark Uniform Services provided a humanitarian contribution for workers that was distributed in December 2023 and January 2024.
The WRC conducted its investigation of the violations that occurred at Horizon Manufacturing in its role as monitor for compliance with the City of Los Angeles’ Sweat Free Procurement Ordinance.
