Far-Reaching Impacts
The labor rights violations the WRC uncovers and fights to end are widespread and systemic. Some of our work involves helping end abuses, win remedies, and defend the rule of law at individual factories—with huge, concrete benefits for workers at those facilities. In a growing number of cases, those workplace-level impacts yield results or inspire initiatives that are broader in scope.
This happens when the WRC uncovers a violation at one factory and learns that employers across many factories are committing (and their brand customers are ignoring) the same violation, and we then help workers fight to end the violation across all affected workplaces. It happens when we succeed in holding brands and employers accountable on a vital issue in one case after another, and this forces meaningful change in industry behavior across supply chains. It happens when the WRC and our partners win binding labor rights agreements between brands and worker representatives robust enough to fundamentally transform the factories the agreements cover.
Some examples of these large-scale impacts and ground-breaking initiatives are summarized here.
